Michael is one of Australia’s foremost experts in timber, and with 35 years’ experience is widely regarded as the technical expert on Tasmanian timber.

Having spent half his career in industry and half of his time in academia, Michael’s knowledge is both technical and practical.

Michael has spent the last ten years as the Technical Officer for the Centre for Sustainable Architecture with Wood in the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Tasmania.

Familiar to most architects and many builders Australia-wide, Michael has operated the Expert Timber Helpline and the Tasmanian Timber Quality Assurance Program while researching plantation grown timber with a PhD team.
